The vessel is an object both utilitarian and ancient

This totem is an homage to the history of exceptional women in art history and also the strong & inspiring women in my life

These cafeteras have been in my sketchbook for years and it’s been bliss to carve them out of silver & gold leaf on birch with copper rivets that are the pearls of the paintings

After returning to home and studio I have enjoyed fleshing out the simple drawings into a series of paintings that encompass the physical and spiritual experience - sharing how it felt to be there
